If you have your heart set on a particular place or event, it is worth booking in advance. Restaurants will be busy too, especially around the Old Port. Anywhere that is offering special New Year’s Eve service will likely require reservations. Places to consider are La Champagnerie, Brasserie 701, Graziella, Vieux-Port Steakhouse, or Taverne Gaspar. Cinemas will be open, and the Casino will be putting on a party night too.

Bars, clubs, and restaurants are not the only options – Luminotherapie at the Place Des Arts offers interactive seesaws that generate light and sound as you play on them, and for a family friendly day and night out, the Old Port is transformed with ice skating, DJs, live bands, and a breathtaking firework display at midnight. The focus is around the Jacques Cartier pier. Witth over 70,000 people expected there won’t be anywhere to park. The nearest metro is Champ de Mars, and the metro will be running all through the night.  Marking the finale of Montréal’s 375th birthday year, this year’s party is going to be even more spectacular than usual.

The party starts at midday with the chance to try traditional dishes for free at the Bonsecours Market.
